If we used a spring form pan then it wouldn't really be a pie. Plus I'm not sure the custard would hold up. For clarification, that's a 1/2 gallon of ice cream, times two. Not 2.5 gallons. I said "usually one of us has enough sense". In the case of the ice cream, we both failed (but it was our "anniversary" after all) The pie has plenty of lime flavor, silly husband of mine.

Also just a thought, wouldn't a spring form pan and making the crust only on the bottom help prevent it from falling apart?
