Recent Purchases: Candy and Tea

Recently I veered from my fairly predictable paths at the store and picked up a couple things that caught my eye.

unreal candy bars

I’m pretty excited about these new candy bars from Unreal.  The display at CVS sucked me in, but I’m still feeling good about that.  From the Unreal website:

Corn syrup?  Out.  Partially hydrogenated oils?  Out.  GMOs?  Out.  Artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives?  Out. Reduced sugar by over 40% per serving on average?  Check. They also decided key ingredients needed to be responsibly sourced, supporting farming communities and preventing destruction of the rain forests. All ingredients needed to be non GMO.

They currently have candy bars that are similar to plain and peanut m&ms, Milky Way, Snickers and Reese’s.  The candies taste a little different from the originals, as one would expect.  Nevertheless, they’re really satisfying and reasonably sized, so I feel good about eating them.  Unfortunately, I probably shouldn’t eat them as much as I’d like to.

sweet harvest pumpkin tea

In other “things I’m excited about” news, it’s tea season again.  My tea intake has gone way up in the past couple of weeks.  While looking to buy a box of green tea to keep in my desk at work, I stumbled upon Celestial Seasonings Sweet Harvest Pumpkin Black Tea.  I’m not as into pumpkin as many people, but I do like fall and the fact that this was black tea appealed to me.  Technically I’m banned from buying any more tea (we have a drawer full) but I bought a box anyway.  Turns out, it’s really good with milk and sugar (the way I usually prepare my black tea).  As I’d hoped, it’s black tea with a hint of pumpkin, not overwhelming at all.  I’m definitely picking up another box or two this weekend.

Disclaimer: I purchased these items with my own money.  As always, my opinions are my own.

  1. I’m planning to get that tea too. Fall usually means spiced teas for me.

  3. Harvest Pumpkin is a tea??!?!? I hate that everything pumpkin is always coffee based when I don’t like coffee, glad to see that I can take part in this fall flavor! :)
