A year ago, when I put together my 101 in 1001 list, I’m not sure what compelled me to add “Participate in Pimp My Preserve”. I’d only seen it briefly on Well Preserved, but I knew I wanted to join it.
Pimp My Preserve is an annual contest in which participants “embellish, package or otherwise ‘dress up’” their preserves and send them to Well Preserved for the inspiration of others and the winning of prizes. I knew that Jen (with her house full of craft supplies) would be more than willing to help me decorate my jars and let her know about the contest as soon as I heard the official announcement for this year.
As with everything (especially this time of year), my entry was easier said than done. The original deadline was December 9, but unfortunately Jen was sick for most of that week and we couldn’t manage to get together. I resigned myself to the fact that I’d have to wait until 2013 to participate. Then Well Preserved extended the deadline to the 14th. I got excited—and then failed at getting myself to Jen’s once again. Again, I told myself 2013 would be fine. And, once again, the deadline was extended by a few more days. Clearly I was meant to enter. So Saturday afternoon I headed to Jen’s, where she helped me dress up my jars. I’m really pleased with the way they turned out.
So how do you vote for my creations, as seen in this post? Well Preserved has very specific instructions, but basically you just need to “like” Well Preserved on Facebook, then like each of my photos in their Pimp My Preserve 2012 album. Voting is open until Sunday, December 23rd at 11:59:59 pm. Thanks in advance!
