There are places in the Berkshires that I adore, but somehow have not managed to write about here yet. How this is possible I’m not sure, but today I’m rectifying one of those instances.
This Saturday was the first time that I managed to get to Dottie’s Coffee Lounge for breakfast, though I’ve stopped there for coffee and tea and baked goods a number of times. I love their signature drinks and eclectic décor. Dottie’s is the place that inspired my first attempt at making vanilla syrup for tea. This weekend, Brian and I found ourselves in Pittsfield early enough to grab breakfast before running a number of errands.
As always, I ordered an Earl Grey tea latte. For food, I ordered the Berkshire Breakfast Sandwich: egg, cheddar, red onion, spinach and caper pesto. It wasn’t quite as amazing as I had hoped (I think toast would’ve made a big difference), but I appreciated the volume of spinach on the sandwich and the caper pesto was fantastic.
Brian ordered the Naked Burrito Bowl, which was rice and beans with an egg, cheddar, avocado and Cholula. He only shared a couple bites with me, but it was fantastic. I’m already scheming to get back to Dottie’s to have one. And possibly to try making one myself.
Dottie’s is probably not the cheapest breakfast in town, but the menu has a lot of variety. They work with a number of local providers for their foods and the restaurant has a really fun vibe. Brian and I enjoyed watching a range of people while we ate our breakfast – families, young adults and older couples. I know I’ll be back for more food and tea in the future. Dottie’s Coffee Lounge is definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in Pittsfield.
