Celebration Week: Caitlin Boyle Book Giveaway

Published on December 24, 2013 By Emily. Updated on December 24, 2013

In celebration of 5 years of my writing Relishments, I’ll be doing 3 giveaways over the next week featuring some of the bloggers I’ve been fortunate enough to meet through this site.  Check back on December 28 and December 30 for the other giveaways.

When I entered the healthy living blog world in early 2009, it was hard to have a conversation about other blogs without Caitlin Boyle’s name coming up.   As a result, I’ve been reading Caitlin’s blog. Healthy Tipping Point, for almost as long as I’ve been writing.  I appreciate her blog because not only does it chronicle her life and meals but also discusses a range of health and environmental topics that interest me such as green cleaning and environmentally and human healthy beauty products.

In 2010 I had the pleasure of meeting Caitlin at the Healthy Living Summit in Philadelphia.  At the time, I’d never been to a conference—or met any other bloggers in real life – and I was a little star struck with the idea of meeting Caitlin, who also happened to be one of the founders of HLS.  I wanted our introduction to go perfectly, which is why we had the fortune of first meeting in a coffee shop down the road from the hotel when she was just coming off a run and I was just waking up.  We were both at our best, for sure.  Nevertheless, we grabbed a photo together later in the summit.IMG_2964

To the 2010 HLS Caitlin also brought along copies of her first book, Operation Beautiful.  I excitedly purchased a copy and had her sign it—it’s not every day someone you know gets published!  Even before the book, I loved the Operation Beautiful concept that Caitlin came up with in 2009.  Operation Beautiful is a movement focused on improving the self-image of those around you simply by posting anonymous notes.  The Operation Beautiful site features thousands of notes from around the world that have been placed on mirrors, scales, diet books and more.  It’s a really amazing movement.

The following year, Caitlin and I were both back at HLS.  That year I brought a lot more confidence but was just as excited to catch up with Caitlin.  Maybe someday our paths will cross again  and we’ll take another semi-awkward photo!

Since that time, Caitlin has authored two more books and presented at numerous speaking engagements, all while continuing to maintain her blog and raise her son.  Color me impressed, it’s all I can do just to post a couple times a week.

And, because she’s awesome, Caitlin offered to provide one of you with a signed copy of one of her books as part of my 5th blogoversary celebration.

HTP book jackets

The winner will have their choice of a personalized copy of any one of Caitlin’s books:

  • Healthy Tipping Point: A Powerful Program for a Stronger, Happier You
  • Operation Beautiful: Transforming the Way You See Yourself One Post-It Note at a Time
  • Operational Beautiful: One Note at a Time (geared toward 8-14 year old girls)

Check out the detailed descriptions on Caitlin’s site, then use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter.  Winners will be drawn next Tuesday!

It’s hard to believe that 2022 is basically behind us. Though overall this year found me getting back to the person I want to be (post-babies and “post”-pandemic), I did not try nearly as many new recipes this year as I used to. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I’d made note of any new-to-me recipes I wanted to share in this post. This year’s list is short, but delicious. It includes recipes from @budgetbytes, @smittenkitchen and @howsweeteats.

@coastalmainebotanicalgardens continues to be one @coastalmainebotanicalgardens continues to be one of the highlights of all my return trips to Boothbay and their annual Gardens Aglow event continues to impress. It was great to be back to walking the gardens instead of the pandemic drive through and there seemed to be more lights than ever. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Fall in the Berkshires is always incredible, but t Fall in the Berkshires is always incredible, but this year we've had weather that has also been outstanding. The past 2 weekends have included time at Jaeschke Orchards, the Greylock Glen, and the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail as well as stopping to photograph any random foliage I see.
Check out the last slide for video of some feathered friends we saw on a walk.

@freshgrassfestival continues to be one of my favo @freshgrassfestival continues to be one of my favorite events each year, and it doesn't hurt that it's just minutes away from home. Enjoying the festival with my kids is definitely a different experience than without, but it's still a good time. The weather was especially cooperative today which was great for all the laps I did around the @massmoca campus pushing a stroller. I'm already looking forward to next year.
