The healthy living blogging “world” is a funny place. Just yesterday I met Cynthia for lunch and we talked about (among other things) how fun it is to hang out with other bloggers because they get “it”. Other bloggers don’t look at you funny when you photograph your food, or question why you’re not eating meat/sugar/gluten/whatever. Other bloggers understand acronyms like SEO and CSA and the importance of owning your domain name.
Another reason that the HL blogger world is interesting is that a lot of us do the same things. Someone does something on their blog, and soon everyone else is doing it too: green monster smoothies, chia seeds, nutritional yeast flakes… Usually I ignore these trends, partially because I’m cheap, but this time even I fell victim.
The recipe comes from Gena’s blog, Choosing Raw. Though I met Gena at HLS, I don’t usually read her blog (though that may change). However, this recipe has been so popular that I learned about it without even reading her blog; it was linked on so many other people’s. The post has 606 comments. I’m not sure I’ve had 606 post views (kidding). It’s titled “This Post Will Change Your Life”. And she gets bonus points for posting it on the same day I married Brian. Yep, it was posted over a year ago and its still making the blog rounds. What more evidence do you need that she might really be on to something?
The recipe? Banana Soft Serve.
The genius behind the recipe is that it’s not even really a recipe. You freeze a couple bananas, and then you put them in your food processor until they reach the consistency of soft serve ice cream. It’s amazing.
Of course, I’m not the type to leave well enough alone. So before I made my first batch of Banana Soft Serve, I made peanut butter. I’d been intending to make peanut butter ever since seeing this post on Heavenly Homemakers. What’s as simple as making Banana Soft Serve? Making peanut butter.
I left a couple tablespoons of peanut butter in the bowl of the food processor, added a couple chocolate chips and then added my frozen bananas. The result: amazing chocolate peanut butter banana soft serve. Yes, please.
Gena isn’t kidding: Banana Soft Serve will change your life. I may start putting all our bananas in the freezer.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love my food processor?
Glad you finally tried it. I love that stuff and it really does taste like soft serve.
