Last week, I wrote about how busy I was and how I was hardly planning any sort of menu. At the time, I’d hoped that the following week would find me less busy and more organized, but I’m not sure that’s the case. I did make some progress on the work front in terms of getting settled in and figuring out my plan for the year. Lesson planning this weekend should be better than last. Unfortunately, in typical Emily fashion, I’ve taken on a few new tasks including my Healthy Living Blogs staffer work, designing a website for my sister and brother-in-law’s new venture, trying to finish the items on my 101 in 1001 list before my time is up on Saturday, hosting a get together for some friends on Thursday evening and hosting my birthday party on Saturday. (Clearly, I’m just a girl who can’t say no. But they’re all things I love and am super excited about.) I have high hopes for October being a more settled month, but only time will tell.
It’s really not all bad, I promise. This weekend has been packed so far, but it’s been full of fun I’ve been anticipating for months. Last night Brian and I went to Mass MoCA in North Adams for our second year at the Fresh Grass music festival. Most of our motivation for attending comes from the fact that my parents visit us in order to attend – they participate in the entire weekend while we’ve only done Friday nights so far – but we also go because we have a really great time. The music is amazing, the vibe is positive, and the food selection is delicious. I’ll share my full experience in Tuesday’s post.
This morning, after my parents left for Fresh Grass, Brian and I trekked to the farm for our share, then headed south for an afternoon of board games in Dalton. 2 Flights Up hosts a monthly all day game day that we hadn’t been able to make it to yet. Last month I put the date on the calendar and kept it clear so we could get there today. It was a great time! We played 2 new-to-us games, Last Will and Mice and Mystics, both of which we really enjoyed. We’ll be back there for sure.
Now it’s Saturday evening and I’m eating popcorn for dinner (seriously) and watching The Fellowship of the Ring in an effort to accomplish the movie watching task on my 101 list. And menu planning, of course. This week’s menu was pretty easy to plan, 2 of the meals are going to be at restaurants as part of my birthday celebration. We’ve been celebrating my birthday for all of September and I’m going to be very sad when it’s over.
