Hi! I’m Emily! Relishments has been my little corner of the internet since 2008, when I was fresh out of college and still living with my parents. I had too much free time (those were the days!) and an addiction to Food Network.
On Relishments you’ll see my adventures in making things from scratch, vegetarian and vegan food, desserts, funny stories, the occasional meaty meal, products I love, restaurants I’ve tried and challenges I’m partaking in. I love local establishments, farms and our CSA membership, but I also enjoy travel, acclaimed restaurants and exotic foods. In the years I’ve been writing Relishments I’ve had the opportunity to connect with so many people around the world through the Healthy Living Summit, Healthy Living Blogs and local blogger meet ups. My knowledge, interests, skills and tastes are constantly evolving. Join in and enjoy the ride!
More About Me
I’m in my early 30s and teach high school in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. With the exception of cooking and blogging, there’s nothing I’d rather be doing than hanging out with teenagers all day (seriously–they’re hilarious!). The time I don’t spend blogging or teaching is filled with church, walks/runs, board games, Netflix and reading. I’m a self-proclaimed Type A morning person and I don’t understand people who can sleep past 9 am and not feel terribly guilty. I love the idea of having a perfectly organized home, but I don’t try very hard to make it happen.
I was born and raised in New Jersey (though I don’t like to talk about it much), finished my high school career in Maine (one of my favorite places in the world), and went to college on Boston’s North Shore. I can’t imagine living outside of New England, though I often fantasize about spending winter in a place where there’s no snow.
In June 2009, I married my college sweetheart, Brian, and moved to the Berkshires. We knew nothing about the area when we settled here, except that Brian had employment, and that was good enough for us. Luckily it turns out that the area is full of cultural activities, interesting small towns and a wide variety of restaurants. We’re going on four years of marriage and it just keeps getting better. He’s a constant inspiration to my life and this blog.
