Saturday was another beautiful day to pick up food at the farm. There was slightly more to choose from this week, which is good if you like greens. I quickly found myself a little perplexed about how to fulfill my ten item share, as there’s only so many times I want to eat greens in the course of a week (and only so many ways I can think to prepare them), but it looks like it’s going to be that kind of week. Don’t get me wrong: I’m super excited to have beautiful, fresh vegetables in my refrigerator again. It’s just going to be a very green week.
The Pick Up:
lettuce, radishes, kale, Hakurei turnips (x2!), Asian salad mix, spinach, strawberries, collard greens
The Plan:
Polenta with collards and black eyed peas | Breaded cod + Strawberry Spinach Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing (Taste of Home recipe, but passed along to me by my mom when I got married) | Kale and cheddar frittata + turnips | Salad (lettuce, Asian salad mix, turnips, radishes, chickpeas, supermarket carrots, etc.) | Pita Pizza with kale and prosciutto | Crepes, with fillings to be determined (probably kale and blue cheese) | Picnic with friends – what should I bring? |
Lunches: Salads
Dessert: Strawberries with whipped cream
