I’m a sucker for kitchen stuff-tools, serving platters, placemats, ingredients… Luckily, my current collection of items has pretty much filled our space, so I can turn down things that catch my eye (like the 2.5 quart crockpot I saw at a tag sale yesterday, but really don’t need).
The internet doesn’t care if I have room or not, it keeps sending tempting ideas my way:
Who doesn’t love Etsy? These kitchen-themed printed towels and bags from Oh Little Rabbit are especially cute and several of the designs recently made it onto my person wish list.
Food Your Way’s post on the power of an organized pantry has some great ideas for creative storage and organizing-no fancy gizmos required!
Check out this nifty gadget for keeping wine glasses safe in the dishwasher (via The Food Section). Now we just need to work on getting a dishwasher…
Need a graduation gift? Chow has a list of foodie graduation presents-listed by major. The Kitchn’s Best Gifts for Foodies (and a Few to Avoid) is probably worth looking over as well.
Like much of the food world, I was really excited about the debut of Gilt Taste, a online marketplace and magazine featuring Ruth Reichl as Editorial Advisor. I’ll probably never buy anything from there (most of the merchandise is beyond my budget), but I really like these plastic wine glasses (I broke several of our stemless wine glasses) and was really impressed by this crepe cake.
The Kitchn has a list of the tools you’ll need if you’re serious about making cocktails.
One of my favorite kitchen gadgets is Evernote (yes, that again). As a result, I almost always have a laptop or my iPod touch with me in the kitchen. Here’s an iPhone app that lists ingredient substitutions…for me, that may be well worth the investment, as I’m always looking them up.
What’s your favorite kitchen tool? I’m awfully partial to my KitchenAid mixer.
(The picture in this post was taken shortly after we moved into our apartment, almost 2 years ago. It hasn’t looked that clean since.)
Don’t forget about my upcoming interview with my farmer! Leave your questions below or send them to relishments at gmail . com by Tuesday
I don’t use a ton of kitchen gadgets but I would have to say I most depend on my blender. I need my smoothies!
I’m not really a big smoothie person, though I’d like to be. Maybe I just need to practice more.
