There are few foods that make me think more of summer than peaches. Around here, we’re finally far enough into summer that peaches have become reasonably priced at the supermarket and therefore I made my first peach purchase of the year last week. It can only be a matter of time before local peaches are available.
Honestly, I very rarely do anything with peaches besides pick them up and eat them straight from the fruit bowl. I have a solid collection of peach recipes I’ve saved (including the ones below), but I’m so happy eating them plain that it’s hard to rationalize the time and effort required to actually make something with them. That said, I’ve enjoyed a lot of peach salsa and peachy desserts and peach iced tea. If there’s an item with peaches on your menu, I’m probably ordering it. And maybe, if I’m lucky, I’ll add some of these recipes to my repertoire:
Summery Peach and Sweetcorn Salad with Basil (Robin Asbell)
Frozen Peach Pie (Alton Brown)
Caramelized Peach and Lavender Scones (How Sweet It Is)
Peach Cobbler Muffins (Everybody Likes Sandwiches)
No Sugar Peach Sauce (The Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking)
