If I had to choose a favorite holiday solely based on that holiday’s traditional foods, Saint Patrick’s Day would probably be close to the top of that list. Potatoes, beer, corned beef, cabbage and Irish cream are just a few of my favorite things. Confession (which I probably make every year around this time): corned beef is actually one of the reasons I won’t give up meat completely. That, and Buffalo wings. I am not kidding. Despite all the nice things I say about eating healthy and local, I can’t say no to corned beef. One of these years, I may even try making it myself. Unfortunately for Saint Patrick’s Day, my interest in the holiday doesn’t extend beyond the food, even though I do have a little bit of Irish in my family tree. I’ll wear green, but there will be no parades or shamrock décor in my life.
