Last week we picked up food from the farm and I didn’t take a picture of it. I think that had something to do with my wanting to get out of the house as soon as possible to start my CDNY weekend and run an awesome 5k.
But this week I did take a picture of our food (on the dining room table because I’ve tired of our kitchen counter):
Despite my original plans to the contrary, we’re still using the bulk of our vegetables to make (delicious, huge, epic) salads. When the season began, I had intentions of using our share to create main dishes. There’s something really appealing about a farm fresh salad though and the salads have been excellent sides. I do use some of the vegetables for main dishes; I used some carrots, scallions, zucchini and cabbage last week to make a stir fry and homemade veggie egg rolls.
In other news, my deck tomato plant is doing fabulously and I’m so happy. My only gardening goal this year was to grow tomatoes and I did! I guess that good weather was useful for something! It looks like it’s going to keep producing fruit for a while which means I’ll be able to continue my tomato addiction further.
your tomatoes look wonderful!!! we’re still just seeing little yellow blooms on ours – i can’t wait for some tomatoes of my own.
