Settling on a word this year really came down to the wire. I don’t feel pulled to take on anything major – 2022 was a good year and I’m not looking to take on anything major in the next 12 months. After much pondering and some discussion with Brian, I settled on a word I’m pretty excited about.

This year’s word is not about adding anything new to my life, really. I did a lot of self-discovery/finding myself last year and I’m happy with where I ended up. My 2022 “resume” rundown has a good summary of what I did last year. This year is about going deeper with the things I’m already doing, doing them better, and doing them more regularly. I want to focus on making time for big and small things that actively improve my life. Some of these things I’m well aware of, others I’m hoping to discover in the coming months.
This year, I personally want to:
continue exploring fitness classes
keep reading regularly and finish a book club book on time
do more cooking and add in more new recipes
explore additional local towns and shops by taking myself out more
be a better teacher in areas that actually matter
further set boundaries between work and home
eat at more restaurants
spend quality time with friends
actively prioritize my marriage
There’s big picture enrichment on the horizon for 2023 as well. Relatives are expected to move to the area this summer which we’re all very excited about. We also have a contractor lined up for some long-awaited home improvement projects later this winter. I’m looking forward to enriching our family relationships and our living conditions
