NatureBox Snacks Review and Giveaway

Published on August 2, 2012 By Emily. Updated on August 10, 2012

Monthly subscription boxes are everywhere lately.  Birchbox, Lost Crates, Love Club…I just did a  Google search of “subscription boxes” and the number of options left me sort of overwhelmed.  Generally, I think these boxes are really neat, but not worth $20-30 a month for things I’m not sure I’ll like.

So when NatureBox emailed me a couple months ago to ask if I’d be interested in trying out one of their boxes of snacks, I didn’t say no.  Who says no to free snacks?

NatureBox is a subscription service that sends 4 to 6 different snacks to your door each month.  The snacks are 15 to 20 servings in all…if you can manage to close the bags after only a 1/4 cup serving.  NatureBox promises no high fructose corn syrup, trans-fats, partially hydrogenated oils or artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors.  Every snack has nutrition facts on the back.

The contents of the box changes each month.  July’s contained Zesta Fiesta Mix, Garden Tomato Crunchies, Sunny Trails Snack Mix, Lemon Pucker Pistachios and Southern BBQ Sunflower Kernels.  I really liked the variety of snacks that were in the box and that each bag had such unique flavors.  I never would have thought of lemon pistachios, but they were delicious.  4 of the 5 snacks had nuts, but I love nuts and the different flavors made it seem like totally different foods.

Opening each of the bags and enjoying new snacks this month has been really fun.  I’ve tried to stick to the suggested servings and make the bags last as long as possible.  Now that I’d tried it, $19.95 actually seems reasonable for these snacks; dried fruit and nuts are pretty expensive at the supermarket.  I had mixed feelings about the amount of packaging, but a quick email to NatureBox let me know that the bags are made of recyclable rice paper so everything in the NatureBox is recyclable.  Impressive.

Sounds yummy. I’m a big fan of popcorn. Any flavor really, but I am partial to kettle corn.

Ok. I’m officially adding “Zesta Fiesta” to my list of potential cat names. Or names I will call myself if I ever become a Luchidora. But maybe that one should be “Zesta the Fiesta.”

Right, you asked about snack food. Well, I’ve never met a potato I didn’t like, especially when its been chipped and salted and vinegared.

Every week I make homemade protein balls to snack on. So easy to make! I usually do oats, flax seeds, vanilla protein powder, cinnamon, tsp of vanilla, carob chips and sometimes even rice krispies. Stir them all up and then add in almond butter until there’s a good consistency to make them into a little bite size ball. I usually roll them in unsweetened coconut too! I stick them in the fridge and snack on them when I need a quick boost of protein.

Hi! I have been dying to try NatureBox. I am just wary about paying the upfront cost for the service, as I do not know what expenses the Fall will bring. I am so intrigued by the product. One of these days, I will just have to break down and try it. At least for one month. I am sure if I try NatureBox for ONE month, I will be hooked and have to save the money every month to make sure I can get mine. :) My favorite snack is OAT mixes. I like a mix of oats, nuts, and dried fruit. It’s satisfying, healthy, and DELICIOUSLY nutritious. I love your blog layout BTW. So cute and simplistic. xoxo Savvy Sassy Me

We've had pizza night on the menu for a long time, but I knew that I could improve the pizzas that were coming out of my oven. Each week (or so) I've been sharing in my Stories the pizzas I've made with various stores and toppings. I am eight weeks in I've already learned a lot about technique and what I prefer in a pizza crust and toppings. I'm also looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year will hold in my pizza making studies. Check out my highlights for all the pizzas so far!

Apparently, in the weirdness that is 2020, posting Apparently, in the weirdness that is 2020, posting to my Instagram feed was one of the things that didn't make the cut. There are more items than I'd prefer in that category, but recently I've felt like I'm beginning to get my feet firmly planted beneath me again. This fall was so busy with learning how to teach remotely and parent 2 children well. I don't anticipate that life will ever feel not busy, but I've been able to carve out some time lately for activities I've been missing. Making bread is one of those activities. Hopefully, more posts in the feed will be more frequent going forward.

#sponsored All the time we've spent at home lately #sponsored All the time we've spent at home lately has definitely had me looking to expand the snack options in my pantry. I jumped at the chance to try these @sunmaid Sour Raisins and they immediately became one of my daughter's favorite snacks. She likes them because they're reminiscent of candy, I like them because they're technically fruit and they come prepackaged for easy snacking and taking on the go. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty they are!

This weekend's weather was amazing and my family e This weekend's weather was amazing and my family embarked on the only way to kick off fall: we went apple picking at Jaeschke Orchards in Adams. The parking lot was full, but out in the orchard we hardly came across any other groups. The trees were heavy with apples and we quickly filled our bag. Looking forward to apples for snacks, pie, crisp and turnovers in the coming weeks.
