New Favorite Site: Evernote

Once in a while, great things find you when you’re not looking for them.  Such was the case the other day when @NoMeatAthlete tweeted “Sounds like Evernote is the crowd favorite way of saving recipes. Thanks!”  Saving recipes?  Definitely of interest to me.  I checked it out immediately.

Evernote describes itself as a free way to “easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere.” Sounds good, eh? You can add information–this includes text, images and sound– to your Evernote account in pretty much every way imaginable including sending an image from a camera or phone (apparently EN can even search text in images!),  emailing or tweeting.

The thing I like best about Evernote so far is that I can select just the part of a webpage or blog post that I want to save.  For example, I can just highlight the recipe I want to try some day, instead of the entire blog post.  Sure, I enjoy hearing about how the author’s boyfriend adored the dessert she made, but I only need to save the recipe itself.  EN lets me do that.

The other wonderful thing is tweeting to EN.  The details on how to do so can be found here, but it’s so great for saving tweets to follow up on!

Evernote is free (but there is a $5/month Premium option which allows unlimited uploads, among other things) and I find it incredibly useful.  The search feature works wonderfully, you can publicly share your notebooks and its so easy to use.  EN is making me much more organized (it’s not just for recipes!) and definitely worth checking out.

I must admit that after I got all those Evernote recommendations on Twitter, I never did went and signed up until now! I can be a bit of a procrastinator. But after your rave review, I went and signed up, downloaded the desktop feature, and it’s great! It’s like a whole bunch of electronic recipe cards! And I love how it preserves a link to the original site when you just drag in a recipe.

    Thanks for the motivation.

i must say this is very intriguing. Im definitely going to get in on this. although i still LOVE having little recipe cards in a little holder, so i can add my mother and grandmother’s recipes. Both of them have given me recipe cards all filled out with their favorites my whole life. seems a little strange the everything is going online now little by little… like my kids will never know what a recipe card is! i guess i need a laptop for my kitchen now! still way cool though!

Howdy, i study your blog occasionally and i personal a comparable one and i had been just wondering if you get a lot of spam comments? If so how do you avoid it, any plugin or anything you are able to advise? I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any assistance is really much appreciated.

I made my first ever trip to @seconddropfarm in La I made my first ever trip to @seconddropfarm in Lanesborough this morning to pick blueberries with my daughter. We had a lovely time at the farm, and especially enjoyed the short walk to the lush blueberry bushes, and the beautiful flower and lavender fields. We didn't participate in pick-your-own flowers today, but it's definitely on my radar for the future.
We are looking forward to some muffin baking soon! 🫐
