Some years, I know what my word for the year is going to be in early December. This year, it took me until this afternoon to settle on something. But, after much thought and reading of other people’s words, I’ve made a decision.
I wanted a word this year that would encompass where I’ve been and where I want to go. I spent much of 2016 focusing on being pregnant and nearly all of 2017 focusing on adjusting to motherhood. Only in the last few months (likely also due to some positive changes in my teaching job) have I begun to feel settled in my new stage of life, finding myself willing and ready to engage in activity and full of motivation.
It sort of feels like my life was paused – or at least in slow motion – for the past couple years. I have a lot of good things in place, but I’m ready to fully engage again and make some progress. I’m looking forward to furthering and growing this site, my professional life, my spiritual life, my fitness level and my relationships. Here’s to 2018!
