Keep It Simple, Silly (CSA Menu Plan #136)

Published on August 16, 2021 By Emily. Updated on September 6, 2021

One of the things (besides lack of time) that kept from posting menu plans in the past year is that my plans sometimes seemed too simple to post. But in the interest of transparency and consistency, here’s what we ate last week. It’s a mix of cooking projects, reheating items from the fridge and take…

So Much Salad (CSA Menu Plan #135)

Published on August 7, 2021 By Emily. Updated on August 7, 2021

Part of the challenge of writing these after the fact menu plans is that they require me to remember what I cooked and ate this week. I’m actually creating my plans at the beginning of the week, but they’re often just a list of main dishes: baked eggplant, pizza, frittata. In the past, posting menus…

Double Share (CSA Menu Plan #134)

Published on August 2, 2021 By Emily. Updated on August 7, 2021

Last month we were away for 2 weeks and postponed our missed CSA pick ups for later in the summer. This week, we picked up one of those missed shares in addition to our regular items. I intentionally scheduled the extra pick up for this week because my in laws were in town and (theoretically)…

Accompaniments (CSA Menu Plan #133)

Published on July 24, 2021 By Emily. Updated on July 24, 2021

Sometimes a CSA pick up is just like the grocery shopping joke: “I just spent $100 at the supermarket and I didn’t get anything to eat!” Though I definitely ordered food to eat from this week’s pick up, the items I chose were much more snack and side dish focused than things I’d use as…

About Last Week (CSA Menu Plan #132)

Published on July 17, 2021 By Emily. Updated on July 17, 2021

One of my current goals – especially because it’s summer – is to start posting again regularly. For a variety of reasons, it’s such a struggle to find an occasion when it seems appropriate to be writing a post. As a result, this menu plan isn’t for the coming week – it’s for the week…

February Feelings (CSA Menu Plan #131)

Published on February 17, 2021 By Emily. Updated on February 17, 2021

At the risk of repeating myself, I really feel like I’m struggling to get my act together lately. I know many folks are in this situation: frustrated with being home all the time, missing going places and seeing people, dreaming of sunshine and warm days. February is never a great month, but February doing Covid…

Planning on Purpose (CSA Menu Plan #130)

Published on January 20, 2021 By Emily. Updated on January 20, 2021

For me, 2021 may be all about being deliberate, but it has been such a struggle for me to get menu plans written and posted. The actually plan writing has improved somewhat since last fall, but those plans have felt repetitive and uninspired. It’s also been a struggle to motivate myself to sit down and…

Thanksgiving (CSA Menu Plan #129)

Published on November 24, 2020 By Emily. Updated on November 24, 2020

Long time no see! We’ve had CSA pick ups each week since my last post, I’ve planned menus and we’ve eaten good meals, but I was totally incapable of getting a blog post up. But here we are! This week was our last main season CSA pick up. There was some concern about whether we’d…

No News (CSA Menu Plan #128)

Published on October 14, 2020 By Emily. Updated on October 14, 2020

I published last week’s menu plan so late last week that I don’t feel like I have anything to say! Things around here are pretty stable and uneventful. We’re working to make the most of the beautiful fall colors and pleasant weather because, obviously, it isn’t going to be around forever. Slow Cooker: Easy Crockpot…

Belated (CSA Menu Plan #127)

Published on October 10, 2020 By Emily. Updated on October 10, 2020

Surprising no one, this post is somewhat belated. I’m definitely missing the days when our CSA pick ups were on Friday afternoons. Tuesday afternoons don’t lend themselves to punctual menu plan posts. (If I could get organized, I’d write the post on weekends and just add the photo on Tuesday, but reality never seems to…

Forward Motion (CSA Menu Plan #125)

Published on September 9, 2020 By Emily. Updated on September 9, 2020

We’re currently into the second week of professional development and it is a wild ride. One minute I feel ready to teach remotely and like I’ve got a solid plan in place, the next minute (likely after I’ve read my email) it seems like nothing is ready for students and I have no clue how…

Published on December 30, 2022 By Emily. Updated on December 30, 2022

It’s hard to believe that 2022 is basically behind us. Though overall this year found me getting back to the person I want to be (post-babies and “post”-pandemic), I did not try nearly as many new recipes this year as I used to. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I’d made note of any new-to-me recipes I wanted to share in this post. This year’s list is short, but delicious. It includes recipes from @budgetbytes, @smittenkitchen and @howsweeteats.

@coastalmainebotanicalgardens continues to be one @coastalmainebotanicalgardens continues to be one of the highlights of all my return trips to Boothbay and their annual Gardens Aglow event continues to impress. It was great to be back to walking the gardens instead of the pandemic drive through and there seemed to be more lights than ever. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Fall in the Berkshires is always incredible, but t Fall in the Berkshires is always incredible, but this year we've had weather that has also been outstanding. The past 2 weekends have included time at Jaeschke Orchards, the Greylock Glen, and the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail as well as stopping to photograph any random foliage I see.
Check out the last slide for video of some feathered friends we saw on a walk.

@freshgrassfestival continues to be one of my favo @freshgrassfestival continues to be one of my favorite events each year, and it doesn't hurt that it's just minutes away from home. Enjoying the festival with my kids is definitely a different experience than without, but it's still a good time. The weather was especially cooperative today which was great for all the laps I did around the @massmoca campus pushing a stroller. I'm already looking forward to next year.
