We’re in the midst of the Blizzard of 2010 here at my parent’s house in Maine. Personally, I think “Blizzard of 2010” is a lame name and we ought to name winter storms with people names like they do hurricanes. According to Wikipedia, this is the fourth “Blizzard of 2010” and that’s just silly. Surely we can be more creative than that.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that we still had electricity when I woke up this morning. Since we’re not planning on leaving the house today, I thought it might be a good time to share some of my Christmas gifts.
Reviews of The Meat Lover’s Meatless Cookbook and The Omnivore’s Dilemma
to follow after I’ve read them (Am I the only one who hasn’t read Omnivore’s Dilemma? I think I might be). We also got maple syrup and Holiday Chai, ornaments shaped like a carrot and a tomato and a set of placemats, among other (non-pictured) gifts.
I also got a collapsible basket tote, which is something I’ve been eyeing for a while and am really looking forward to using.
At home, we also have some exciting gifts from Brian’s side of the family: a canner (I’m so excited to can more!!!) and Mark Bittman’s Kitchen Express: 404 inspired seasonal dishes you can make in 20 minutes or less
. There’s lots of cooking in my future…
How are you keeping warm during the Blizzard of 2010 (#4)?
Such fun Christmas presents! Enjoy the Meatlover’s Meatless Cookbook. I’ve used mine so much since I purchased it this fall that its starting to fall apart. Every recipe I’ve tried out of it has been a big hit with me and with my boyfriend, who was leary of trying anything that didn’t have meat with it! Merry Christmas!
So great to hear about the cookbook. I’m really looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for stopping by the blog!
Happy Christmas Emily & Brian! Expect a longer note in the future. I’m blizzarding here in NH today, hurrah, state of emergency means no work! Have fun cooking and enjoying all your new gadgets. And I can’t even believe that they make vegetable ornaments.
I might be stealing…I mean borrowing that cook book Emily.
Glad you still have power and are having fun. We have the same storm here and it’s not letting up yet.
See ya soon :-)
Anytime, Cynthia! You know where to find me :)
