And suddenly, it’s August. Even with the chaos of 2020, this year is flying by. At the moment, I’m looking out the window at the results of Tropical Storm Isaias, even though we’re far away from the Carolinas where it’s supposed to make landfall. It is pouring…which definitely makes me want to bake something.

Relishments Bakes – August
You know what’s coming next. April was Something Old, May was Something New. In July we made Something Borrowed.
As fun as this series of themes had been, blue food can look sort of gross. There certainly are some great looking blue recipes, but I’m generally put off by artificial dyes and colors. I prefer food that has a natural looking color.
So, instead of strictly baking Something Blue, I’m expanding the theme a bit. I’m challenging you to make something colorful. It’s summer and there are so many naturally colorful foods available to bake with. Cherries, tomatoes, peaches, lemons, limes, blueberries, beets…you could bake something for every color in the rainbow. Go for blue if you want…or pick another vibrant hue to make your baked goods beautiful to look at.
