Last October, I posted this Relishments Bakes challenge: Apple Turnovers. October ended up being a very busy month (the beginning of a school year does that, often) and I never got around to making those turnovers. I thought that maybe I’d make them in early November and put the post up a little late. Since I usually put Relishments Bakes posts up late anyway, it seemed like a fine plan.
And then I was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital with preeclampsia on November 1. So unexpectedly that I only had my purse with me and had to make emergency phone calls to have someone take my kids for the night because my husband was out of state. Ultimately I delivered my son at 34 weeks and then began six weeks of my premature infant being in and out of the hospital.

Relishments Bakes – October
There’s a lot I could say about my last couple months of 2019, but the point of this particular post is that I still haven’t made turnovers of any sort. It’s a new year (though still crazy, just in a different way) and I’m going to give turnovers another go.

These options all look really yummy:
- Crispy Turnovers with Apple, Bacon, and Caramelized Onions — The Kitchn
- Date and Nut Puff Pastry Turnovers — Serious Eats
- 20 Minute Apple Turnovers — Food 52
- Almond-Apple Turnover — Bon Appetit
- Spiced Peach Turnovers —The Kitchn
As always, the Pinterest board for this month has lots of ideas too!
