4 Day Weekends and Other Good Stuff

Published on January 18, 2011 By Emily. Updated on January 18, 2011

Some good stuff from the past 4 days:

♥ A snow day after a 3 day weekend.  Not only did we have yesterday off, but then we had a snow day today.   I honestly thought we were going to have school, so it was a wonderful surprise.  And now I’m super ahead in my lesson planning.

♥ Spending 2 hours (including baking time) making Go-with-the-Flow Potpie with Cheddar-Biscuity Crust on Sunday night for dinner.  Totally worth it.  Did I mention that I’m obsessed with The Meat Lover’s Meatless Cookbook?

♥ Finally breaking into the Bridgewater Chocolate bars that Brian bought me for Christmas.  Yes, I really did resist this long, but now that they’re open, I don’t think they’ll last.  I’m so glad I guilt tripped him about the fact that he never buys me chocolate now that we’re married.

♥ Taking down Christmas decorations.  It’s a little bittersweet, but the apartment feels a lot more open now that the tree is put away.  Plus we’re leaving the creche out for a little while longer and that makes me happy.

♥ Making Julie’s Simply Savvy Scones, which I had all of the ingredients for, took less than 1/2 an hour to make and are fabulous with raspberry preserves.

♥ Becoming a one car family.  Brian and I had been talking about getting rid of one of our vehicles for over a year and suddenly, we did!  I’m a little nervous about only having one car, but I’m really excited about the potential for our wallets and the environment.

♥ Ordering new eyeglasses, because that’s only been on my to do list for months.

♥ Buying a winter hat that I actually like-I think that’s the first time that’s happened in my entire life!

♥ Cleaning our apartment.  I really like living in a clean apartment, even though I’m really bad at keeping it that way.

What good things are happening in your life?

So glad you enjoyed the scones! They’re a great way to use up some of those preserves, right?

I think they’re going to become a staple in our house. Who knew scones were so easy? Thank you!

Fun post :-) We just took down our tree this last weekend as well — bittersweet, but you’re right, it’s nice to have a more open apartment again! We’re also a one car family, and I really enjoy it. We spend SO much time together in the car, since we share a long commute, but I’ve come to really treasure the time we spend together.

One good thing in my life right now is looking forward to family coming to town! We have relatives coming in all the way from Korea, which is going to be so nice!

I hadn’t even thought about the bonus of quality time spent in the car. Just one more reason to be happy about it :)

You’ve taken words right out of my mouth! I need to find a way to get my house to clean itself!

Are those chocolates with strange flavours like pepper and rosemary, etc?

I LOVE eating weird chocolate :)

I would say different, not really strange:
Apricot Macadamia(Dark), Orange Crisp (Milk), Lime Crisp (Dark), Coffee Crisp (Milk), Hazelnut Crisp (Milk) and Cranberry Raisin (Milk)

      They’re really good…

Oh, that box of chocolates is unique! I would take a bite of each and then decide which one I liked best and eat the whole thing :)

Welcome!

Despite the cool temperatures and wet weather, we Despite the cool temperatures and wet weather, we had another fantastic year at @freshgrassfestival. I can never get over how, in addition to all the incredible music, the event features a great venue (@massmoca), delicious food from mostly local vendors, a great local beer tent and bar stocked with @berkshiremtdist and a kid-friendly atmosphere including a @kidspacemm art tent.
Shout-out to some of my favorite acts of the day @ajleebluesummit, @cj_field with @gregcaproni and @theblacklegacyproject.

Looking forward to next year!

I made my first ever trip to @seconddropfarm in La I made my first ever trip to @seconddropfarm in Lanesborough this morning to pick blueberries with my daughter. We had a lovely time at the farm, and especially enjoyed the short walk to the lush blueberry bushes, and the beautiful flower and lavender fields. We didn't participate in pick-your-own flowers today, but it's definitely on my radar for the future.
We are looking forward to some muffin baking soon! 🫐
