As Christmas gets increasingly close (15 days?!), I’m finding that I have increasingly less time to accomplish the things I need to. That, and the list of things I need to accomplish keeps getting longer. It’s really not fair.
However, I’ve made plenty of time to listen to Christmas music, as I can listen while doing other things. Like my general music taste, my taste in holiday music is fairly eclectic. I was raised in a home that listened to all different kinds of music and the holidays were no exception. So, while I love a lot of traditional music, there are also a lot of strange songs that it just isn’t Christmas without.
My more mainstream favorites include
- Vince Guaraldi Trio’s O Tannenbaum (from Charlie Brown)
- Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
- Carol of the Bells
- All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey
- this particular version of Baby, It’s Cold Outside, even though it’s technically a Gap commercial.
I’m also a fan of Beach Boys Christmas music, which is funny because I can’t stand them any other time of year.
This year’s Christmas music purchase was Straight No Chaser’s Holiday Spirits, which is really quality.
As for the more eclectic tunes, I thought it best to put them in a YouTube playlist for your listening and watching enjoyment. This is certainly not all of them, but it hits the highlights. Click the icon on the bottom of the video to preview all the songs in the playlist and skip around.
Enjoy!
I love that Relient K Christmas CD – that’s an amazing band! =) I’m behind with Christmas to-dos as well, not sure that Christmas cards are going to make it out the door this year…oops!
It’s such a good CD! It gets a lot of play at my house.
Our Christmas letters are written AND printed (largely the husband’s doing) AND I bought stamps, but we’ll see if I manage to get them into envelopes and out the door!
