I’m always thrilled when the CSA season resumes; that’s no secret. This year it’s so nice to have something to look forward to and a fridge full of fresh, local produce. This is extra true because I just realized I haven’t posted a CSA menu plan since October, around the time I went into the hospital with preeclampsia, resulting in the premature birth of my son and a couple months in and out of the hospital. The past 7 months have been a ride, haven’t they?
Of course, things are different at CSA pick up this year. Mighty Food Farm has been working hard to make sure everything is safe for everyone. For the first time this year we order everything online in advance and the farm packs it into a box for us, instead of free choice at pick up. Today, after getting my box, I transferred everything to my CSA bag, left the box behind, and headed home. It’s not quite as fun, but I’m so glad to be a member of Mighty Food Farm for another year.

I miss the old system, of course, but today’s pick up was efficient and I still got everything I wanted. Pick ups have also moved from Mondays to Tuesdays which means my weekly menu plans* will be posted on Tuesdays (or later), but the actual planning is easier because I do it days in advance sitting at my computer with the CSA ordering website open.
The Pick Up

The Plan
Super Simple Lentil Sloppy Joes over rice with frozen vegetables (before pick up)
salads with lettuce, turnips, radishes, cheese and ham
Honey-Soy Glazed Salmon with Bok Choy (Serious Eats)
roast potatoes & beets with a protein to be determined (chicken?)
Swiss Chard Topped Farro with Crumbled Bacon (on Relishments)
Sweet Potato Black Bean Quesadillas
*in the first draft of this email, I typed “weekly lesson plans” instead of “weekly menu plans” which is a sure sign that remote learning has gotten to me. Just a few more days!
