The results of yesterday’s CSA pick up:
Swiss chard, Brussels sprouts, carnival squash, onions, red potatoes, white potatoes, blue potatoes, baby lettuce mix (in bag), turnips, parsnips
How did we use our last collection of food?
White Bean-Chard Soup (Food Network Magazine)–we’d never made chard before and it turned out really well
Polenta stuffed with kale and mushrooms
Roasted potatoes; roasted squash
Carrot sticks for our lunches
…and probably a few other things I can’t recall. We have some onions and squash left.
This morning I headed to Berkshire Grown’s Holiday Farmer’s Market at Williams College. The food looked amazing (too bad we didn’t actually need any!) and there were a lot of people. I continue to be so impressed with how many local food producers there are. Several dairy farmers were in attendance, as well as several beef and pork providers. Somehow I managed to get out with my wallet intact. If you missed out, there’s going to be another one on December 18th.
On an unrelated note, I optimized the Relishments site for mobile devices! Please check out the site on your device and let me know how it looks (I may still tweak the settings a bit). It looked good on my iPod touch, but I’d like to get more feedback. Your input is much appreciated! (Bloggers: I used the WPTouch plugin for WordPress and it was super easy)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
