Highlights: Gift Guides

Christmas gifts

Confession: I feel a little silly writing this post.

My Christmas shopping has been done for a while-we bring Christmas gifts to half our family at Thanksgiving, since we don’t see them at Christmas.  Since I’m doing half the shopping pre-Thanksgiving, we usually go ahead and do it all.  Plus, I just get really excited about buying people gifts.  However, I suspect that there are still people in this world who haven’t finished their shopping.  For you, I offer these gift guides from around the web:

From Serious Eats, gift ideas for Spicy Food Lovers, Healthy Eaters, Cocktail Lovers, Grillers, and Chocolate Lovers.

The Holiday Gift Guide from Chow is nicely divided by price, so you can browse stocking stuffers or big ticket items.

It’s about time someone did this: What Not to Get the Cook on Your List (from WBUR’s Public Radio Kitchen)

These 2 lists aren’t food related, but just because someone loves food/is a food blogger, it doesn’t mean they don’t want non-food gifts.  From Fabulously Broke in the City, a holiday gift guide for her and a holiday gift guide for him.  All the gifts listed are under $100.

Check out the PETA Mall for cruelty-free gift ideas.

The Kitchn has some DIY gift ideas:  Recipe Kits, Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar and Chocolate-Dipped Peppermint and Pumpkin Walnut Biscotti.

I love these ideas for Gifts for the Sustainable Foodie (don’t miss part 2!) from Change.org

The former Editor-in-Chief of Gourmet magazine, Ruth Reichl, is going to be posting one of her favorite products as a gift idea every day from now until Christmas.

If you’re still stuck, check out last year’s list of my favorite kitchen tools.  I might create an updated list soon, but I still love all those items.

What was the best Christmas gift you ever received?

great post! I need to start thinking about gifts… I’ve been inspired by Heather’s Handmade Christmas, and I think I’m going to bake a lot. I’m not quite as crafty as she is, but she has made some great suggestions. Hmm, the best Christmas gift I ever recieved? Probably my kitty fourteen years ago, I love her dearly and she is a plump as ever living the high life :D

I love Heather’s Handmade Christmas too, but I’m not as crafty as she is. I’m planning to bake bread for some of my friends at work (I did cookies last year).
      And now I want a kitten…

Apparently, in the weirdness that is 2020, posting Apparently, in the weirdness that is 2020, posting to my Instagram feed was one of the things that didn't make the cut. There are more items than I'd prefer in that category, but recently I've felt like I'm beginning to get my feet firmly planted beneath me again. This fall was so busy with learning how to teach remotely and parent 2 children well. I don't anticipate that life will ever feel not busy, but I've been able to carve out some time lately for activities I've been missing. Making bread is one of those activities. Hopefully, more posts in the feed will be more frequent going forward.

#sponsored All the time we've spent at home lately #sponsored All the time we've spent at home lately has definitely had me looking to expand the snack options in my pantry. I jumped at the chance to try these @sunmaid Sour Raisins and they immediately became one of my daughter's favorite snacks. She likes them because they're reminiscent of candy, I like them because they're technically fruit and they come prepackaged for easy snacking and taking on the go. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty they are!

This weekend's weather was amazing and my family e This weekend's weather was amazing and my family embarked on the only way to kick off fall: we went apple picking at Jaeschke Orchards in Adams. The parking lot was full, but out in the orchard we hardly came across any other groups. The trees were heavy with apples and we quickly filled our bag. Looking forward to apples for snacks, pie, crisp and turnovers in the coming weeks.
